2022 National Tripartite Alliance Conference

Back after a three-year hiatus due to the pandemic, the 35th MOST National Tripartite Alliance conference was kicked off by International President Newton B. Jones with a focus on increased work on the horizon and new initiatives and strategies to boost work opportunities for Boilermakers, contractors and owners. 

He referenced the need for Boilermakers, contractors and owners to take advantage of new work projected to come online as a result of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, Inflation Reduction Act, transitioning energy landscape and other factors.  

International President Jones discussed the vital importance of the M.O.R.E. Work Investment Fund and developments in recruiting strategies; a new boot camp training program being built at the U.S. Army’s Fort Benning, Georgia, base; the Boilermaker Women at Work program; and efforts to advocate for carbon capture, use and storage technology, as well as other developing energy technology.  

He also unveiled plans for an alliance with the Ironworkers union to share manpower and ensure all new and existing near- and long-term jobs can be adequately staffed to the mutual benefit to both organizations, as well as IBB and Ironworker contractors and owners. 

Keynote speakers addressed work opportunities relative to the new legislation and changes in energy production, and speakers included Eric Dean, General President of the Ironworkers; Spencer Schecht, Senior Client Engagement Lead for the Global CCS Institute; Ian MacGregor, founder of Hydrogen Naturally, Inc; Dr. Evan Blumer, CONSOL Energy; and Brad Crabtree, Assistant Secretary for the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management.
