MOST Administrator Appointed to an Occupational Safety and Health Administration Advisory Committee

Kansas City, KS (December 17, 2012) – MOST Administrator Roger Erickson was recently appointed to the Occupational Safety and health Administration’s (OSHA) Advisory Committee on Construction Safety ad Health (ACCSH). In his role as a committee member, Erickson will advise the Secretary of Labor in formulating construction safety and health standards.

According to OSHA’s Department of Labor, an ACCSH member selection is based on experience, knowledge and competence in the field of occupational safety and health, as it pertains to the construction industry.

Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis appointed Erickson for his extensive background in the construction industry as a boilermaker ad his current work with MOST.

In his leadership role as MOST Administrator, Erickson oversees the Boilermaker’s on-going safety and training non-profit, labor management trust. Prior to this position, Erickson served five years as a MOST Safety Representative and oversaw the safety and training functions for the 17 MOST programs. Erickson also spent over 20 Years in the field as a boilermaker manager, before assuming positions with MOST.

Members of the committee serve two-year terms and typically meet two-to-four times per year. The membership representation includes employers and employees in the construction industry, state safety and health agencies representatives, a representative of the Secretary of the department of health and human services and two members of the public whose knowledge and experience offer useful contributions to the work of ACCSH.

ACCSH members are nominated for the positions and are appointed by OSHA’s Secretary of Labor. Erickson represents the employees.
