The National Joint Rules and Standards Committee amended the Uniform Referral Standards and Joint Referral Rules applicable to all U.S. Construction Lodge Joint Referral Rules effective June 1, 2015. The Committee amended the Rules to now require the removal of an applicant from the local lodge out-of-work list/pool when said applicant has obtained work directly with an NTD signatory contractor. Please refer to the Referral Amendments for details.

OSHA issued a final rule to increase protection for workers on confined spaces in construction that goes into effect August 1, 2015. According to Secretary of Labor Thomas E. Perez, “this new rule will significantly improve the safety of construction workers who enter confined spaces. In fact, we estimate that it will prevent about 780 serious injuries every year.”
